The 2010 Mercury Milan and Milan Hybrid are remarkably good mid-size sedans that should be better known than they are. Though mechanically identical to the Ford Fusion and Fusion Hybrid, the Milan and Milan Hybrid have a cleaner exterior and slightly more stylish interior finishes—along with the better dealership experience that Lincoln-Mercury dealerships might offer.

The Milan Hybrid can operate up to 47 mph in pure electric mode, approximately twice as fast as some competitors. Plus, the city driving range on a single tank of gas is expected to be more than 700 miles.

Mated to a CVT transmission, the hybrid delivers 155 horsepower and 136 pound-feet of torque. An upgraded nickel-metal hydride battery is said to be 20 percent more powerful than previous batteries used in Ford hybrids.

The cabin is comfortable and spacious, and the trunk’s 11.8 cubic feet of storage is actually 0.1 more than that found in the massive Lexus LS600hL hybrid. We’re also fans of the classy and understated new styling worn by all 2010 Milans, including nonhybrids.
