[ Monday, November 8th, 2010 | by automotiveroom | under Audi, CAR, New Cars ]Audi is presenting his first visit to Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) event, with many cars, planned to go see the luxury brand, including a heavily modified R8 Spyder from the guys at STASIS Engineering. STASIS is a motor sport and tuning companies in West Virginia and specializes in turning regular Audis in the tarmac terror.
The tuner has developed a Signature Series for the R8, which features primarily mechanical and suspension upgrades to the otherwise stock-looking Spyder. Chief among these changes is a supercharger package on the standard 5.2-liter V-10 engine, which raises output from 525 to 710 bhp and torque from 391 to 523 lb.-ft., thanks to 7.5 psi of boost. ST?SIS Engineering claims a 0–60 time of 3.1 seconds, 0.6 sec. quicker than stock. Also helping increase engine power is a lightweight, larger-diameter stainless-steel exhaust system.
This Challenge Extreme Package also includes remote-reservoir Ohlins shocks and new springs and anti-roll bars that significantly lower the vehicle’s ride height. The car is equipped with 20-in. forged alloy wheels and larger Alcon disc brakes. The R8 Spyder is shod with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires, measuring 255/30s in front and 325/25s in the rear. The company backs its work with a 4 year/50,000-mile warranty.
