2011 GMC Acadia Denali
[ Friday, May 14th, 2010 | by automotiveroom | under CAR, GMC, New Cars ]Today GMC unveiled the 2011 Acadia Denali in Detroit. The first Denali was launched in 1999 on the Yukon brand and helped define the luxury SUV segment. With nearly half of all Yukon sales being Denali models, expanding the Denali line to include the Acadia was a logical extension. Acadia Denali will provide GMC customers with all the amenities the Denali is known for in a fuel-efficient crossover.
Sadly, unlike the Yukon Denali, which complements its luxury upgrades with another 83 horsepower and 82 lb-ft of torque from an enlarged engine, the Acadia Denali will not get any mechanical changes other than minor suspension tweaks to accommodate the larger wheels. Pricing has yet to be announced, but expect the premium for the Acadia Denali to be slightly smaller than the Yukon’s, since there are no mechanical upgrades. Figure on about $48,000 when the Acadia Denali appears in the third quarter of 2010 as a 2011 model.
The Acadia Denali will be available in front- and all-wheel-drive models, as well as seven- and eight-passenger configurations. It is equipped with a 288-horsepower 3.6-liter V6 engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is estimated at 17 mpg in city driving and 24 mpg on the highway for the front-wheel-drive model. Fuel economy is estimated at 16 mpg in city driving and 23 mpg on the highway for the all-wheel-drive model, GM said.
