2011 Hyundai Elantra
[ Wednesday, November 17th, 2010 | by automotiveroom | under CAR, Hyundai, New Cars ]New Hundai Elantra have new design of tunnelled speedometer and tachometer, combine heated rear seats, ambient lighting and a colour TFT LCD information display. Other highlights include Smart Parking Assist System (SPAS) plus HID headlamps and LED lamps.
the 2011 Hyundai Elantra will stick with front-wheel drive and 4-cylinder powertrains, but the current pair of 2.0-liter “Theta” engines reportedly gives way to improved “Theta-II” units with performance- and mpg-boosting direct fuel injection. Hyundai offers Theta-II in several displacements to suit various world markets and sources disagree on what size will be used for North American models. However, based on offerings for the Elantra’s new Kia Forte sister model, and remembering Hyundai’s more-upscale brand positioning, we see a base 2.0-liter unit and an available 2.4, the latter new to Elantra and also slated for the redesigned Sonata. Both engines should have a bit more power and torque than Kia-tuned versions. Rumors suggest that Elantras will be upgraded to 6-speed manual and optional 6-speed automatic transmissions, but pricing concerns may limit the smaller engine to a 5-speed manual and optional automatic. We’ll let you know if we hear anything definite.
