The 3-door version of the Seat Mii will go on sale across Europe at the end of 2011. Seat also announced that a five-door version of the Mii will be put on sale in 2012. The price of the Mii however, has not been announced yet. The Seat Mii is VW Group’s third model to be based on the Volkswagen Up, after the Skoda Citigo. Seat’s Mii has the same dimensions as its brothers, the Up and the Citigo, but it features a different exterior and interior design. The will be powered by a 1.0-litre petrol engine, which will be available in two versions, with outputs of 60 PS and 75 PS. Even though some of you might think that’s not enough horsepower, you have to take into account the fact that the Mii weighs only 854 kg.

The 60 PS Seat Mii has a top speed of 99 mph (160 km/h), while the 75 PS version can reach a maximum speed of 106 mph (171 km/h). Seat says that the Mii has a fuel consumption of 4.5 liter / 100 km or 4.7 liters per 100 kilometers, respectively. The numbers improve in the case of the Seat Mii Ecomotive, which comes equipped with a start/stop system and brake energy recuperation. Seat’s specifications of the Mii Ecomotive say it has a 4.2 liters / 100 km fuel consumption and a 97 g/km CO2 emissions level.

A unique innovation in this class of vehicle is the SEAT Mii’s City Safety Assist. In the event of danger the Mii warns its driver, or even brakes automatically. A laser sensor recognises other vehicles in front, whether they are driving or stationary. The system warns the driver when there is the imminent threat of an accident at speeds of less than 18 mph (30 km/h). If he does not react, the Mii brakes automatically. In many situations this is sufficient to avoid an accident altogether but will, at the very least, mitigate its consequences. ESP is also available, and is always combined with City Safety Assist when specified.
